The First Tee of Greater Richmond at Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range is a state-of-the-art golf practice and play destination conveniently located in Downtown Richmond. The facility is The First Tee’s 100th site developed by The First Tee National Organization. Former President, George H. W. Bush, and current PGA Tour Commissioner, Tim Finchem, spoke at the grand re-opening held in May 2003.

The facility features a large grass practice tee for practice all year long and a covered mat area to protect patrons from seasonal weather. A chipping and a putting green are also available to all skill levels to practice short game techniques.  One of the most unique aspects of the Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range is the six-hole par-3 course, which consists of holes ranging from 75 to 200 yards, brand new vertical walled bunkers, and champion Bermuda greens.

Throughout 2016 and 2017 The Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range will undergo sweeping renovations.  Clearing and re-grassing has already occurred. During the winter, the clubhouse will become a youth-centric space for The First Tee Life Skills Experience classes. The clubhouse will also add two simulator bays for patrons to use year-round.  In the summer, the driving range will be renovated to improve the grass tee and practice greens, as well as implant target greens for accurate practice.  Upon completion, The Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range will be considered the best public practice facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The First Tee of Greater Richmond at the Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range is also home to the 2015 and 2016 A-10 Champion VCU Rams Men’s Golf Team.
